G'day All,
I have an old Fernandes Strat survival model. The neck plate has the serial number L170120.
Can anyone date that for me?

Buckshot,

Unfortunatley those serial numbers don't mean sqaut. I have a Limited Edition which I bought new in '84. The serial number is L008890 which would make you think it's earlier than the Revivals which it isn't. Mine has that little nib on the headstock but the exact same electronics as the Revival. I would say you guitar is either '82 or '83. As long as you have the grey bottomed pups, you've got a goodun.

Thanks Chris,
I have put Tonerider Pickups in it recently and before that I had other vintage in it. I will have to search my spares to see if I still have the originals( if thats what they came with when I bought the guitar about 12 years ago). It has a beautiful neck on it . The frets are really low on it. I was going to put it on a Fender Body and do some changes to the hardware but not sure on that yet.
By the way mines Fiesta Red,

Buckshot,

I find them to be some of the finest Strats available. In 26 years I've only changes strings and one tone pot. The Fiesta red must look great and the alder bodies just ring forever. The only change I'm looking to make is to find a trem arm like Gilmours' short ones. I believe the threads are metric and if i can't find an already made one, I'll buy a full size one and cut it myself. You'd be very hard pressed to find a better Strat at any cost IMHO. Not that I care about these things, but they are also vintage correct in terms of the contours and such. Gonna strap mine on later and wail for a while.

I have a white fernandes strat model with serial number L058377 on neck plate. Bought it 1986 (I think, those years were a blur). what type pickups are in there. It actually sounds better than my 1990 mexican fender strat.

Loops,

They should be the grey bottomed alnico ones. I really don't know what model that is. Something like VS2 or L5000. They are very faithful to the 70's grey fender pickups. I have them and the do sound very good. Perfect match for the guitar they are in.
