Dear friends,

Just a little help to identify this model Fernandes Strat Copy would be really appreciated. I've read many of the threads but just got a little confused with re serial/ no serial etc.

Thank you

Mike

Hi Mike,

well blurry pics to judge but i would like say that this model could be RST-50 model?
scratch plate looks to be non original because of 3ply? and it has 11 screw holes on it instead of 1ply and 8 holes? so it was probably changed in some point???
if it has a 3 piece body then it should be RST-50? 12th fret position marks looks to be '57 style and string tree/guide looks to be square and it has maple neck
so sure it is a '57 strat clone ...

hmmm  was there a sticker behind the headstock/serial number?? does it have 'V' or 'U' profile neck??

the revival RST-50 series '57 strat model?

Thank you Guitarzan,

These might help, my fear was that the body was not a Fernandes but I did find a couple of extra holes for the original scratch plate, one partially filled with a match stick :-) so that could be a good sign.

The neck is round with the dark wood grain strip covering the truss rod. Not sure what you mean by three piece body though, do you mean 3 ply?
To my untrained eyes it looks like two solid half pieces butted together.

Hope that helps.
Spent last night setting up the relief and intonation, sounds pretty nice, the pick ups are custom Van Zandt someone has popped in later and as you can see they have modded the springs. Seems someone knew what they wanted.

Hey, thanks a million for the quick reply! Really appreciated mate.

so the neck has round 'U' profile (+counting all the other neck specs) which makes it RST-50 neck but if the body was made of two solid pieces of alder
instead of three pieces (i dont mean 3ply which makes it "pancake" body) that makes it RST-60 or RST-80 body? weird? so this could be a mixture of RST-60/-80 body and RST-50 neck, who knows? :?
yes i can see the center seam of the body (clearly two piece body) but it might be that there is third seam somewhere in the other area of the body, have you looked closely?
looks like the serial number sticker was removed in some point ...

wonder what's the point of that spring "adjusment tool" ? you can set the spring tension with those two outer screws anyway :?
never heard or seen before ...

cheers
