Nice axe ...
Please check this site ... in case you haven't found it yet ...
http://www.catoosatrading.com/ventura_guitar.html

The body seems to be made of two pieces glued together ... I think I've noticed a seam in the middle !?
... and those pup covers differ completely from the usual ones ... love for the detail!

I've seen quite a few of these for sale in OZ, but don't know a great deal about them. Nice looking guitar.

The "STEEL REINFORCED NECK" is common on older ie:60's era. This one clearly isn't that era, and I'm not familiar with that format serial number, so I can't help with the actual manufacturer, or date.....sorry. If you pull the plate, more information may be available on the pickups or pots to help ID manufacturer and date. ie: MAxon?

Roger, the sandwich style of body construction is quite common on many older Japan made guitars. It provides a more stable platform for the body, and doesn't require full size slabs to create the body. It seems to be used more often in guitars which are painted. My early Greco Telecaster is made the same way, and is painted white, but the join is still visible.

All in all, that's a nice looking guitar, and if you got a good price, and like the sound, I think you've had a win.

How's it sound?

Edit: Just looked and see the plate says ADJUSTABLE, not reinforced.
So many beautiful guitars, so little talent!

Thanks for the posts guys.Yes,I think it sounds pretty good, but it only has a 3-way switch so you don't get those stratty in between tones. I just left it off at the shop I got it at so that they could do a full setup and replace the missing string tree.

Just got it back

Hello all... My first post here.

Yeah I know something about these Ventura Model V-1006 guitars There
is also a "BL"= Black model #1010BL. As shown in the brochure above which probably
was cut and pasted from my Ventura guitar site:

Oh... BTW, The: :Unofficial Ventura Guitar Site mentioned before is mine, and hosted
on my paid server space. (No more pop-ups like back when it was on Anglefire!

Anyways, I've had one of these very Strat copies right down to
the original 3-way switch like a Stratocaster originally came with! Just like the very old Strats,
if you set the 3-way switch carefully between notches it will get the 2-4 position "Quack" sound.

Not a bad guitar at all. In fact much better than many copies. I'd still have it except for
my extreme prejudice against thickly coated maple fret boards!

You would not believe the bandwidth the"Ventura" web site goes through
with an average of over 200 hits a day! I usually get a half dozen emails a day with
the same old "My uncle gave me..." or "I found in grandma's closet..." usually with
no description or pictures and wanting to know if they've just been made rich by
their newfound treasure. Too many people watching "Antiques Roadshow" I think.

Out of each few dozen though, I'll eventually get a message from someone like
the people who hang around here; and they'll pretty much know what they've
got, and offer me pictures of their Venturas to put on my site.

I hope the owner of this Strat copy doesn't mind if I use his pictures on a
future site update, as my old one pictured there has an unusual nameplate
on the headstock. The one on this example is the more common. Than mine:

i think they look really good copys , and very solid lookin one thing about old guitars like that even if it is a sandwich
off wood you can be sure it is good wood..... any copy you get now in 2010 will not be made of good wood ,,,cos of all the tree huggers . i bought an antoria acoustic on ebay about a year ago . had a lovely solid spruce top flamed maple lam sides and back over solid maghogany body ,,,, well you want to here the sound of that guitar fantastic , i sold it on to a mate for the same money as i got it for as he was learning to play ... hes really good now he absoultey loves the guitar
and said he,ll never part with it cos for the money he got it for ,,, he could never get anything with the class off wood its made of ...... what does the pickups sound like quality wise it would really be worth looking out for something to upgrade with if they were,nt up to scratch ,,,,,,,,,,enjoy really nice guitar
